Dear DBTI Family,

Greetings through St. John Bosco’s dream!

It was last week that we released our first advisory on our preparations and plans for the school year 2020-2021. Today, we will give you more updates on DBTI’s learning continuity plan as together, we rise above the COVID-19 pandemic.

But before we delve on the details, we would like to give thanks and acknowledge all the people working and collaborating with us in making St. John Bosco’s dream alive despite this tough times.

To our Dearest Bosconian Parents, thank you for your patience, understanding, and openness. You have always been with us and have continued to journey with us despite all the uncertainties and the many unknowns along our way.

To our Parents Council Executive Board, you have been a sturdy support for this institution. With your availability, financial support, and assuring presence; you’ve helped us carry the load and allowed us to emerge ready to cater every Bosconians’ need.

To DBTI Faculty and Staff, we are grateful for your hardwork, sacrifices, efforts, and openness to welcome and learn new things. Let us continue to work hand in hand to give the best learning experience for all Bosconians.

To our benefactors, especially Victorias Milling Company, thank you for your continued support all through out these years and for being our partner in fulfilling Don Bosco’s mission for the young.

To all Bosconians who continously support DBTI in our initiatives especially Bosconians from Batch 1997: Mr. Marvin Tomayao, Mr. Abner Bautista, and Mr. Carolino Gamlanga who helped us bridge gaps to address concerns on Bosconians’ continous learning.

Our journey to planning and preparing for the opening of the incoming school year was never easy yet with God’s providence and everyone’s support; we emerged ready to confront the challenges of this new times.

ALTERNATIVE MODE OF LEARNING

A lot of things have been considered as we finalize our alternative modes of learning. On top of that is prioritizing every Bosconian’s well-being as well as their capacity and capability to partake on the alternative modes of learning especially designed for them.

After deliberation and a lot of considerations, we are humbled to officially present to you DBTI’s alternative modes of learning for School Year 2020–2021: Juan Learning which consists of Blended Learning and Full Online Learning. You can choose one of the two modes of learning that you think will best fit your individual realities.

A. Blended Learning

§ 1-day face to face learning

§ 4-day distance learning (3-day *asynchronous (DBTI LMS) and 1-day *synchronous (Video Conferencing for consultation)

B. Full Online Learning

§ 5-day distance learning (3-day asynchronous (DBTI LMS) and 2-day synchronous (Video Conferencing)

*Asynchronous Learning

§ Self-directed, self-paced

§ Does not require all the students to be virtually present at the same time

§ The students are provided with content and tasks that they need to accomplish within a time frame using the DBTI Learning Management System

*Synchronous Learning

  • A type of remote learning wherein the class is conducted in real time.
  • Requires all the students to be virtually present at the same time.

DBTI TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE

With the given alternative modes of learning; access to DBTI Learning Management System and Video Conferencing is a must to carry out both the online and blended learning. We understand that not all of our students have connection to the internet and own needed gadgets for online and blended learning. Thus, DBTI is taking necessary steps to address these needs. DBTI is working to strengthen the school’s internet connectivity to assure our teachers’ quality lesson delivery and we will also put up a video recording studio sponsored by our Parents Council Executive Board. On the part of our students, we are also working to provide our Bosconians access to our LMS and Video Conferencing through our Local Intranet. On the otherhand, we are also arranging on the purchase of laptops and tablets to be used for online classes through our partner company.

We will see to it that we’ll go through our online and blended learning as smoothly as possible and address all necessary concerns to carry out continous learning properly.
